Matthew Bubb grew up on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia, and completed his Bachelor of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium studying with Alexandre Oguey. Additional teachers include Ernest Rombout, Ngaire De Korte and Rachel Tolmie. He has also participated in masterclasses with Diana Doherty, Francois Leleux, Alexei Ogrintchouk, Jacque Tys, Jonathan Kely and Celia Nicklin. Matthew has performed with the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs Orchestra, Sydney Omega Ensemble, Sydney Concert Orchestra, Orchestra Romantique, Sydney Sinfonia and extensively with the NSW Police Band and wind quintet . A Strong supporter of new music, Matthew has premiered works for oboe including Eliot Gygers' 'Precipice' and Calagero Panvino's 'Envy'. 2011 saw him play a series of concerts throughout Switzerland performing the Mozart Oboe Quartet, Britten Phantasy Quartet and Martinu's Nonet. A Big Brother Movement travelling scholarship enabled him to study and make connections abroad during February 2012. In 2013 he spent 6 months at the Conservatorium of Music in Amsterdam studying modern oboe with Ernest Rombout and baroque oboe with Alfredo Bernadini. Recently in 2014 he won the job of Oboist with the NSW Police Band.
